Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage

The Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage is the coordinating framework that sits above Europe's digitised heritage collections. Led by the Europeana Initiative, it empowers cultural heritage institutions and EU Member States to share their collections through a common infrastructure rather than as scattered, incompatible datasets.

Rather than being a dataset in its own right, it is the connective tissue: the shared standards, tools, and services that let museums, libraries, and archives across Europe publish and connect their material. In practice, much of the content flows through and is discoverable via Europeana.

For RAG, treat this as the entry point to the wider European cultural heritage ecosystem. Licences vary across the institutions and collections it brings together, so confirm the terms on any specific data you plan to use.
