Siyavula Education is a South African social enterprise that publishes the Everything Maths and Everything Science textbooks, a set of free, curriculum-aligned learner and teacher books for schools. This is graded teaching content rather than a curriculum framework: the books are organised by grade and follow South Africa's CAPS curriculum, with Mathematics covering roughly Grades 7 to 12, Physical Sciences Grades 10 to 12, and Natural Sciences the earlier grades, so the material forms an ordered teaching spine from the middle years through to school-leaving level.

You can read the books online as interactive texts or download them for free as PDF and EPUB, in both branded and unbranded editions. The chapter, section and worked-example structure makes them straightforward to chunk for retrieval: each section is a self-contained passage, and the worked problems and end-of-chapter questions give you ready-made question-and-answer material. For an AI tutor that needs to sequence teaching by subject and level, the explicit grade bands are especially useful, because they let you retrieve explanations pitched at the right stage rather than at an undifferentiated reading level.

The licence needs care. The branded editions are released under Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives (CC BY-ND 4.0), which permits copying and redistribution for any purpose, including commercial use, but forbids modified or adapted versions. Because reformatting and chunking can count as adaptation, builders who need to transform the text should use the unbranded editions, which Siyavula licenses under CC BY and which may be changed freely with attribution. Attribution is required either way.

Alongside the free books, Siyavula runs a separate paid practice platform, which is not part of the open corpus. As an open educational resource it sits close to OpenStax, MIT OpenCourseWare, LibreTexts, OER Commons and MERLOT, but it is distinctive for its school-level, CAPS-aligned coverage and its strong focus on mathematics and the physical sciences.
